Under 8s flying (and relaxing) at the Middleton Gala

Hot work at the Under 8s Gala in Middleton

The Under 8s took centre stage at the Middleton Gala yesterday and gave everyone a final 5-a-side performance to remember. With the sun blazing and the scent of flapjacks in the air, Horsforth JFC’s Cobras and Vipers delivered eight unforgettable matches filled with grit, goals, and glorious teamwork.

This wasn’t just another Sunday kickabout - it was the last time these players would play 5-a-side before stepping up to 7-a-side next season. And they rose to the occasion with all the enthusiasm and drama we’ve come to expect from them. There were goal-line scrambles, heroic tackles, last-minute equalisers and the usual moments of magic! Plus, an entirely clean sheet from one of the two teams - not a single goal conceded!

Every player showed incredible character, battling hard for every ball and celebrating every goal like it was Wembley.

Fuelled by what can only be described as the world’s most powerful chocolate chip flapjacks, the teams racked up some serious results:
Four wins. Three draws. One hard-fought loss.
Not bad for a day’s work in the sun! And even a small amount of time to relax in the sun between games ☺️

As the final whistle blew on their 5-a-side journey, we can all be very proud of how far they’ve come and get ready for the next chapter. Thanks to all the parents for making it such a fun day out.

What a way to end a brilliant season. Bring on the 7-a-side!
